Position Title: Teacher Support Part-Time
Reports to: Head Start Director
Wage Classification: Exempt
Job Summary
The Teacher Support position assists the Lead Teacher in implementing a high-quality early childhood education program in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards. This position supports classroom operations, child supervision, instructional activities, health and safety procedures, and family engagement efforts to ensure a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
This is a part-time, school-year position totaling 852 hours annually, operating from August through May.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Satisfactory job performance will be determined by the successful execution of the following:
a) Assist the Lead Teacher in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework (ELOF).
b) Support daily classroom routines including circle time, small groups, transitions, meals, rest time, and outdoor play.
c) Promote children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
d) Provide individualized support to children as directed by the Lead Teacher.
e) Assist with implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) as needed.
Job Duties
· Ensure classroom and playground safety standards are followed
· Assist in conducting daily health checks
· Follow program policies for child guidance and positive behavior support
· Support safe sleep practices (if applicable)
· Assist with classroom documentation including observations and child portfolios
· Support attendance tracking and maintain accurate records
· Participate in required trainings and professional development
· Maintain confidentiality of all child and family information
· Maintain professional communication with families
· Participate in parent meetings and program events as requested
· Collaborate with classroom team members and support staff
· Demonstrate respect for cultural diversity within the program community
· Prepare classroom materials and learning centers
· Assist with classroom cleaning and organization
· Attend staff meetings and in-service trainings
· Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
a) High School Diploma or GED required.
b) Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred or willingness to obtain within required timeframe.
c) Experience working with young children preferred.
d) CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain).
e) Must pass required background check and fingerprinting.
f) Must comply with Drug-Free Workplace policies.
g) Valid driver’s license (if required by program).

a) Knowledge of early childhood development (ages birth–5).
b) Ability to maintain active supervision and ensure child safety.
c) Ability to work collaboratively as part of a classroom team.
d) Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
e) Ability to follow program policies and licensing regulations.
f) Ability to maintain confidentiality.
g) Ability to demonstrate professionalism, patience, and cultural sensitivity.
Physical Demands
a) Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and sitting on the floor.
b) Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
c) Ability to respond quickly to children’s needs.
d) Extended interaction with young children.
